Creating Inclusive Narratives in Controversial Historical Topics

Contrary to popular belief, history is not static; it is fluid and ever evolving. Therefore, historians must also evolve. We must strive to always put forth the most inclusive and truthful narrative possible when interpreting, narrating, and teaching history. This has become my personal and professional mission as a historian. This website is dedicated to my pursuit of that mission and highlights my projects, my research, and my professional and personal thoughts as I strive to contribute to the betterment of the historical profession.

About Me:

Cheerio!

My name is Alana Rogers and I am currently a graduate history student at the University of North Alabama. I will graduate in December 2024 with a Master of Arts in History and a post-baccalaureate certificate in Public History. I received my Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Alabama in 2022 where I majored in History with a minor in Political Science. My area of historical concentration is British History, or more specifically, British Imperialism.

I currently serve as a graduate assistant with the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area where I work on local museum exhibits, collaborate on Heritage Area research topics, engage with MSNHA followers via blogs and “history mystery” Facebook posts, and contribute to the Heritage Area’s ongoing projects.

I also am a part of the University of North Alabama’s History Graduate Student Association, where I serve on the executive committee as the Secretary. I hope to continue contributing to the historical community and public history discussions as I further my scholastic career at the doctoral level.
